|
We are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted on a riverside path in Derby. The incident happened on a path by the side of the River Derwent behind the David Lloyd health club just off Riverside Road, Pride Park, today (Monday 17 November) at about 8.40am. The victim, a woman aged in her 20s, was approached from behind by a man who grabbed and threatened her. A struggle ensued between them and the woman managed to get away uninjured whilst the perpetrator ran off in the direction of the city centre. It is believed the man was carrying a knife at the time of the attack. The attacker is described as a white man, aged in his late 20s, about 5ft 7ins tall, with a skinny build and ginger/blonde hair. He had a pale face with red marks and blue eyes. He was wearing a navy blue coloured coat with black jogging bottoms that had white stripes on them. There were a number of other members of the public in the vicinity at the time of the assault and we are appealing for those people to come forward and speak to us. Officers would also like to hear from anyone who has CCTV or footage from cycle helmet cameras which covers the area and time of the incident and has not already spoken to officers. We understand an incident of this nature may cause concern and officers will be conducting additional patrols in the area for community reassurance. It is also believed that this was an isolated incident. Anyone who has any information is asked to contact us using one of the methods below and please quote incident number 25*673494: You can also anonymously contact the independent charity CrimeStoppers, on 0800 555 111, or by visiting the CrimeStoppers website. | ||
